SEAC plays a role:

Serving the region as a resource of arts knowledge .. events; arts opportunities; artist database; art jurors; commercial art exhibits; matching artists' with client needs; advocating for artists in the area and local policies that engender a thriving and vital arts community for all!

  • Sponsoring and supporting arts start-ups including the Washington Pavilion and SculptureWalk
  • Assisting those interested in public art through procedural processes and fundraising, so dreamers can leave lasting legacies of public art, such as the CommUnity Youth Mosaic for all to enjoy.

Managing the Horse Barn Arts Center in Falls Park and collaborating with business and civic organizations to benefit artists, arts organizations, residents, and visitors.

  • Offering free exhibit space, workshops, and other exhibit opportunities to visual Artists in the region.
  • Hosting the annual Mayors Awards for the Arts.

Providing opportunities for our young people to experiment in visual arts!

  • Facilitating high school art mentorships through the Special Projects program.
  • Holding Second Saturday classes and summer art camps for elementary students.
  • Producing the Community Wonders driving brochure of permanent sculpture located around the city of Sioux Falls,in collaboration with humanities students at Edison Middle School.

SEAC Believes...

  • The arts are an intrinsic part of the well being of Sioux Falls.

  • Arts education stimulates creativity, communication, and learning.

  • The arts play a significant role in tourism and economic development.

  • The arts need to involve the entire community from individuals, to businesses to government.

  • All art forms are to be encouraged and fostered as well as artists of all ages and backgrounds and from all neighborhoods of Sioux Falls.

  • The Council's mission is achieved with active participation in its governance and membership from the leadership of Sioux Falls' arts organizations and individuals who care deeply about this community.

Mission: To Foster the Arts Through Service, Education, Advocacy and Coordination

For 40 years the Sioux Empire Arts Council (SEAC) has served as arts advocate by expanding arts opportunities for both residents and visitors to Sioux Falls. Incorporated in 1969, SEAC works to promote all areas of the arts including visual, literary, and performing.

The office of the Sioux Empire Arts Council can be found in the Horse Barn Arts Center at the north end of Falls Park in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
