American Indian Youth Photovoice Project

Photovoice is a research project where historically under-represented
people --
represented by students from Tiospa Zina Tribal School of Sisseton and USD freshman Native students -- represent and benefit their community through their photography. Students learned to use cameras; studied ethical and cultural issues regarding the taking of photos of people and community; received guidance on writing narratives; identified health issues they wished to highlight; and interacted and discussed their photos with the community and the public at large.

FIRST ANNUAL SEAC POSTCARD SALON and FUNDRAISER

Our inaugural Postcard Salon event is making its debut during the 2010 JazzCrawl event. Several hundred postcards in a 4" x 6" format have been created by artists from six states. These will be put on display Wednesday, April 14 for viewing.
However, no purchases can be made until the evening of Saturday, April 17!
On that night, the party starts at 5:00 pm. SEAC members ONLY may purchase cards from 5:15 until 5:30. At that point, everyone else is invited to buy. All postcards will be on sale for $30.00 each, making this an excellent time to add original artwork to your personal collection. Artists have agreed to donate half of all sales to the Sioux Empire Arts Council to continue its arts advocacy work in the region.
Refreshments and appetizers will be served, and admission is FREE!!

The Visible Plains & Prairie -- Works by Ray Kelly

One of South Dakota's most diversified artists, Kelly will be exhibiting many of his drawings in
graphite, pencil, and color as well as some of his sculpture.
